Dominican Nursery & Primary School, Mafoluku - Lagos was established in the year 1992 by the Dominican Fathers and Brothers in the Province of St. Joseph the Worker (Nigeria and Ghana).Thereafter, it was commissioned the same year by Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okojie the Archbishop of Lagos.

 

The management of the school was then assigned to the Dominican Sisters, who currently see to the effective running of the school till date. Presently, the school have thirty-seven teaching staff with over Nine hundred and forty-five students comprising of every faith and tribe.

The school maintains adequate classrooms and academic friendly teaching environment with an average of thirty-five students per class and a conducinve teaching table and chair to every staff. The classrooms / students ranges from Kindergarten one (KG 1) to Primary six.

 

In a way to ensure moral and spiritual education of the students, they are engaged in Bible study, basic catechism lessons and Mass on special days in line with the school / liturgical calendar.

Also, for fitness and wellness of the students, they participate in physical and health education, including exercises and use of the school clinic managed by the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM).

In view of the high quality of teachers and the excellent performance of students ahead of its counterparts in other school, Dominican Nursery & Primary School has become the first choice of every parents within Mafoluku, Oshodi, Ajao Estate and its environs.

 

Aside from above, the school organises a prize giving programme each year to recognise the most outstanding students in each class. Here, three best students from each class are awarded a prize as a way of motivation and continuous hard work.

 

This educational awarding scenario, do no only encourage the students but also create an atmosphere of educational drive for continuous hardwork on every students for new prize awardee to emerge.

Furthermore, we provide well integrated school facilities of international standard which will serve as a point of reference to other like schools.

 

 

In a world that is gradually converging in culture and technology, it is important to provide learners with internationally applicable skills and relevant knowlegde. This is also to be achieved without compromising national cultures, traditional ethics and values.

While being prepared for international academic challenges, students of Dominican Nursery & Primary School would, in line with the Nigeria philosophy of education, be imbued with skills that would lead to self reliance, enhance self esteem and national pride.
