AN APPEAL BY BROTHER STEPHEN LUCAS, O.P. AT ST. MICHAEL'S PARISH, WHEATON, IL.

Thank you Father Don McLaughlin for inviting us to St. Michael's Parish again.  We bring good news concerning construction  of our Dominican High School in Nigeria, West Africa, and the Dominican Nursery / Primary School all under our direction.  The primary school has a vibrant enrollment of 960 children.  90% of these wonderful children are looking forward to admission into the Dominican High School, which numbers 181 students in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grades. In two years, our school enrollment will be complete with the 11th and 12th grades.  In Nigeria these six grades are called JSS1, JSS2, SS1 and SS2.

Our Dominican High School Library has been completed, thanks to our friends and benefactors of St. Michael's.  We have also constructed three laboratories in the High School, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Now our needs turn to the building of 21 classrooms in order to accommodate many more students at the Dominican High School.  At the present time,  nearly 100 High school students are accommodated in the Primary School.  The costs of these classrooms have been broken down into a final figure of $ 9,000. per classroom.  These are the construction needs of our Dominican High School in Africa.

Our Dominican Province of Nigeria and Ghana has been very grateful for your participation in our educational building programs.  Nigeria is a country with serious problems, we want our school to be a guiding light, bringing the youth back to Christian values.
